about smart state designer of the year

The category of Smart State Designer of the Year is open to all resident Queensland designers with a minimum of 3 years design education & 2 years design experience. Unlike other award categories, entry in this category is by either nomination or application. In addition to the recognition of their peers, the winning applicant or nominee will receive a travel bursary to offset the cost in their attending a national or international design event of their choice.

Smart State Designer of the year
• will be awarded to the person who most impressively shows SKILL, EXPERTISE, TALENT, DIRECTION and COMMITMENT to design excellence.
• will be awarded to the person that has most impressively shown continuing contribution to the design industry in Queensland and/or nationally and internationally.
• may be a freelance designer, work within a design practice-at any level, or be part of a project team.
• may demonstrate the above qualities through a specific project, a range or projects or experience.
